ED PROSEK MAKE IT EASY

Here’s something to pick you up this Friday. Flush with jangly pop keys and smooth-as-silk soul, Ed Prosek’s ‘Make It Easy’ is an intensely honest confessional from the Berlin-based Californian. Reminiscent of Honne and Chet Faker, ‘Make It Easy’ hits all the spots for us at TMR, especially when all the instrumentation is dropped in favour of a stripped-back piano moment. These seconds of brevity give a melancholic perspective to Prosek’s poignant words, “you only love me when it’s easy, / You only love me when it’s free, / I’ll do my best to make it easy on you baby, / So you don’t stop loving me.” Rather than leaving us here, Prosek lifts the song back up into hearty alt-soul territory, demonstrating a brighter end to this story. Lucky for us, this narrative is set to continue as we hear more from the upcoming Flesh & Blood Part Two EP, due to land in a couple of months. - Hannah Thacker
